Square Four is a game takes place on an 8x8 board, original concept by Scott Kim.
The rules are simple. Two players take turns placing pieces on board, these pieces are immobile once placed. The object of the game is to make squares with these pieces. The larger the square, the more points it's worth. The blue piece moves first.
Squares may be tipped at any angle, in fact the diagonal squares earn big points. The way to determine the points of a square is to count the square of (maxX-minX+1), where maxX is the horizontal position of rightmost piece, and minX is the horizontal position of leftmost piece.
You win when you get over 150 points with at least a 15 point lead over your opponent.
In online play mode you can play with others over internet. After login you can join game tables created by others or create your own one. Password are required to join private tables. ELO rating system is used to calculate the relative skill levels of players, initially everyone have 1500 ELO. If you play with someone of lower ELO, you get less points if you win, but if you lost you lost more points, if the game reach a draw, you still lose points. But if you play with someone of higher ELO, the situation will be in contrast, you may get points even the game reach a draw. You'd better play with someone of ELO near yours.
